  • Making It Known:
I came across this magnificent female Wedge Tail Eagle in Far Northern Queensland in late 2020. She was feeding on a road kill kangaroo carcass. There were four other smaller eagles ( males) watching from the surrounding trees, just waiting to get a hold of her meal but she was having none of it. She began dragging the carcass away so she could eat in peace.

  • Broken But Still Standing.
This old stone cottage was on a property near Dalgety in Australia's Snowy Mountains. It has a message for all of us. We may be tired, badly beaten, however we are still standing.

This is a six frame stitch. I have no history for this pioneer cottage that is on the outskirts of Adelong, a small village in the foot hills of the Snowy Mountains In New South Wales. I spotted it as we were driving toward town looking for a place to park our motorhome for the night. We did get some rain from those clouds but it didn't dampen our spirits.

  • Billy Tea:
This little paddle steamer began life in a backyard in Canberra ( Australia) some 20 years ago. She was built in the style of the pioneer paddle steamers that navigated the Murray River around a century ago. Today her steam engine has been removed and replaced by and engine that drives the paddle and a nice warm pot belly stove provides the puffs of smoke from her stack. I recently was fortunate enough to be invited aboard and spent time with her skipper/owner who told me a little of her history.

  • A Window To The Past:
In the little town of Balranald in NSW there is a what is now a house ( which is being restored), but was a former bank in the towns pioneer days dating back to 1889. The beauty of its old windows grabbed my attention.

  • A Bridge To A New Season:
I was staying with my stepson regional NSW during Autumn ( Fall) of 2021. This lake/estate is near his home and there is an island in the middle of the lake. The striking colours of the autumn trees was such a beautiful scene.

  • Bark Art: Another of Australia's Snow Gums, which are only found in our Alpine regions. I was lucky enough to make it up to the high country early this winter in 2021.

  • Twisted Snow Gum:
Snow Gums are a species of eucalypt that is found only in the alpine regions of Australia. As the tree ages the bark becomes very colourful and quite striking.

  • Sunrise On The Wire:
It was a glorious sunrise and we ( hubby and I) raced out of town ( near Wentworth, Outback NSW) to find open skies as this beauty unfolded. The only suitable foreground subject were these powerlines. Sometimes you just have to work with what you've got.
